Taniya & James
Multicultural Church & Masia Wedding in Barcelona
Indian traditions, Cuban rhythms, and a triple-song first dance
With guests flying in from Britain and roots stretching all the way to Kerala, India, Taniya & James’s wedding was a true celebration of cultural heritage, heartfelt ceremony, and joyful surprises. Their destination wedding in Barcelona began in one of the city’s most breathtaking hidden gems: Santa Anna Church, a tranquil Gothic sanctuary tucked away from the city’s bustle.
The couple’s ceremony was rich in symbolism and spirituality. It was conducted by two priests—one Spanish and one Keralite—honoring both of their backgrounds. Taniya’s Indian heritage played an important role throughout the weekend, starting with a pre-wedding dinner where the couple delighted their guests with a surprise traditional Indian dance performance. A vibrant and personal touch that set the tone for the festivities ahead.
From Sacred Vows to Catalan Charm
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Masia Mas Coll, a rustic Catalan estate just outside the city. Surrounded by nature and history, guests were welcomed with live Cuban music by Calle Habana, creating a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere for the aperitif.
The reception featured a mix of cultures and music, culminating in a spectacular first dance that blended not one, but three songs and dance styles. From classic romance to upbeat energy, the couple’s performance left everyone in awe and set the tone for a night full of dancing and connection.
Captured beautifully by Anastasiya Kotelnyk and filmed by Dmitry Komarenko, every moment reflected the couple’s thoughtfulness, love, and celebration of their shared story. This wedding was not only a union of two people, but a joyful merging of traditions, music, and community
